Always trying to re-cycle…in this case broken mirrors!
I have saved these fragments over recent years, knowing eventually I would find a project to use them in.
The fragments of broken mirror are “buttered,” with tile adhesive and stuck to the wall, bit by bit.
To protect fingers from the sharp edges, I am edging the project with glass beads…though you can use any practical medium for this, including wood, sea-shells, buttons…whatever you have!
This project, works really well above a mantle or shelf where candles can be placed in front to reflect magical light on a midwinter evening!
There was a time, not so long ago, when only wealthy people could afford mirrors.
Recycling and upcycling is always the challenge here at Bealtaine Cottage…

Looks real lovely, and of course it is great to re-cycle just about everything, giving it a new lease of life. I especially love the candles in front of the mirror!

Love the wall art that you created it looks beautiful above the mantle but what caught my eye as well was the pictures at the right of the lost gardens. Truly spectacular! I especially enjoyed the picture of the staircase…the area seems to be very beckoning.
It’s magical how Nature can encompass an old building and make it it’s own. There are many old and derelict buildings here in Ireland and it’s wonderful exploring them. Kilronan Castle is now an hotel and set into wonderfully ancient grounds.
