Bealtaine Cottage Permaculture Smallholding was created eight years ago.
This Permaculture Project was and remains, entirely funded by me.
From purchasing the derelict cottage and three acres to the present day. This lifestyle does not require much in the way of money.
I do not smoke, drink, take holidays, gamble or worry about bank accounts.
I am content.
ALL work on the land is carried out by myself.
It is a life I look forward to awakening into each morning.
The days are a pleasure to live.
There remains no people employed in any aspect of the land.
I am and remain, one woman and three acres of Permacultured Ireland.
Help and advice is given freely.
I have given away hundreds of plants this year alone, all grown here and potted up with love.
I am happy to help anyone with queries or questions about any aspect of Permaculture.
I have pledged myself to work only for the Earth and her environment.
Very nice! Something I am aspiring to here in the U.S. You are a wonderful model for many of us out there.
I, too, moved to a small cottage and started Permaculture living in Feltion, CA. It is now so lush, I have to trim, a lot. I love the seasonal living with the earth. At the moment, I am at a log cabin in Chester, CA locked inside because of raging forest fires. I get to strip wallpaper and paint a wall. I have to go to the library to use the computer each day. Your blog is such a blessing. Thank you so much for sending this out. I learn and feel connected to my Grandmother’s roots in West Ireland. Gaia needs your words and pictures. I look forward to checking in daily. Green blessings, Eleanor Carolan

Your surname intrigues…for O’Carolan was the famous blind harpist who lived nearby, in the village of Keadue.
There is a Harp festival each year in his memory.
I hope the fires die out and all is well with your community.

Beautiful sentiments. You’re such an inspiration. I really want to make a visit to Bealtaine Cottage soon.
I like how you have realise dyour dream and continue to do so, living the way you want to and sharing what you have
And how you roll is an inspiration even to the likes of myself. I came over today looking for ideas of what end of August could look like if I borrowed some leafs..leaves..? from you and instead I get inspired all over again! You are ace!
You are an inspiration, what you have created is what the Greeks might call “Temenos.” An outdoor temple of the divine, to the divine, in all her many costumes, frocks and frivolities!
Bright Blessings! Eric in Oregon
