Canada is a beautiful country, with stunning scenery and some of the most spectacular trees I have ever had the pleasure to see.
I visited Canada last September…here I am in Ontario, not far from North Bay.
Canada is, at present, extracting oil from Tar Sands, oil that will be piped into the US via the Keystone XL Pipeline.
It breaks my heart to think that any part of this extraordinarily beautiful country should be sacrificed to the greed of those who (would happily) see Mother Earth so destroyed.
I have posted a link to some basic info about this…
Today has been disturbingly hot.
I don’t tolerate this extreme of heat well, so most of my chores were done this morning, very early and this evening as the day cools into night.
All that we do on this small, sacred, little planet is all connected, all the good and all the bad.
As a gardener and tender of the Earth, I can state quite categorically, that the weather systems are more extreme and unpredictable.
Cause and effect…we are having an effect for sure!
As I boil the kettle on the rocket stove, fired with dried willow left over from basket making, I remember Canada.

[…] Tar Sands Destruction […]
How lovely to see you!
I was thinking of these words written by George Harrison, this morning and then I came to see your blog:
We were talking about the space between us all
And the people who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth, then it’s far too late, when they pass away
We were talking about the love we all could share
When we find it, to try our best to hold it there with our love
With our love, we could save the world, if they only knew
Try to realise it’s all within yourself
No one else can make you change
And to see you’re really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you
We were talking about the love that’s gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don’t know, they can’t see, are you one of them?
When you’ve seen beyond yourself then you may find
Peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we’re all one
And life flows on within you and without you
Love and blessings x
George Harrison was an incredible singer, songwriter and musician…but most of all he was a deeply spiritual man. I miss him!
Thanks for reminding me and everyone else what a lovely man he was X
Thanks for making known as widely as possible the disaster that is ‘our’ Tar Sands. Those in power (neoCons), and those who would like to be, keep telling us it’s because we ‘need jobs’ (wage-slavery) and the economy must constantly grow. This is madness. What we do to the earth, we do to the people and other sentient being of the earth. Glad you got to see Canada not yet totally wrecked.
You are right…it is madness! Such a beautiful country, such a beautiful world! We must be a voice for Mother Earth!
