Visitors to Bealtaine Cottage have been welcomed in their thousands over the past ten years.
Many have become good friends.
I have enjoyed sharing Bealtaine Cottage with foot visitors from all over the world, as well as over half a million through the website.
Increasing amounts of my time have been spent happily showing visitors around the three acres of gardens.
However, as the website has grown in popularity, I get more and more requests from people who want to visit the cottage and gardens.
A decision simply had to be made, to draw a line under visits, instead, opening the gardens as many times as I can manage, during the year, for Open Days!
The first of these Open days is planned for the 5th of April.
I am happy to open my home and gardens on these days to all visitors.
There will be an admission charge for charity and more details can be found on this link.Â

Any questions regarding visiting the gardens can be posted in the comments section of the blog.
I can no longer respond to emails, as subscribers to the blog increase.
I trust you understand the increasing demand on time I face and the need for me to simply get on with work, serving Mother Earth as best I can!
Blessings as always for your love and support for this little place in the West of Ireland.
xxx Colette

Bealtaine Cottage is also on YouTube…with over 110 videos about Permaculture, planting, growing and living.                           There are almost 700 blogs in the archives on this site.I write, photograph and film, in a small way, to give a voice to Mother Earth.
I really love this idea and hope we can pop across on an open day to see you.
I’m guessing that you likely have a charity in mind, but some point when you have a little free time, could we perhaps talk re Irish Dogs for the Disabled as they’re a massively deserving charity and I’d love it if you’d consider perhaps supporting them with one of your open days. They really are the greatest tiny charity in Ireland. xx
It does sound wonderful, Emma, but sadly I no longer have open days, as it all became too much work, hosting, baking, serving and planning for one person. I will keep this most worthy charity in mind though! XXX Colette
Hi Colette, Just recently “discovered” you. When is your next Open Day please ?
I keep the gardens and my home open all year. Click on the link at the top of the page, “Open Days,” and email me with a few possible dates, so as I can check the diary, as some dates are taken. I will get back to you ASAP
Blessings X

Great idea, Colette — this time of year is far too busy to be putting your tools down every couple of hours to make tea for visitors (as nice as it may be). Sometimes when people visit me and I’m busy in the garden, I have them make tea for themselves (and for me) while I continue to work and they watch. Sometimes I even get them to help!! (I know, it is a bit rude…)
I hope to visit sometime this year so look forward to your list of Open Days.
Ah…the list…I shall get to that today!
I look forward to meeting with you too!
Blessings of joy XXX

A decent visitor would have the gumption to offer anyway 🙂
I wish I could live at Beltaine Cottage….and help with the gardening….sigh…
Dear Colette, a wise decision I think when you are so busy although I must say I am so glad that we have had the opportunity to visit you already and have you all to ourselves. We will be visiting again on one of your open days as I have other people to bring and show the wonderful Eden you have created. A visit always spurs us on. Love and best wishes from Terri and Lol xx
And I’m looking forward to spending time with you…you’re always welcome!

I so hope I can get to Ireland. I tell everyone about your piece of heaven and share your blog to boot. You have developed a footprint for the possible of which most would like to follow were they given half the chance. So enjoy your open gardens and the wealth of visitors they shall bring. You have a special message to share with the world…I only wish it weren’t so far away. Hugs, bj
Blessings and thanks fro your lovely words, Betty!

I’m not far away and I used to visit the west of Ireland every year for holidays, but now we’re poor that has ended. But looking at this blog is enough to keep me cheerful! xx Mary
Dear Collette, I wonder if you realize the joy and inspiration your work gives people all around the world…I am sure you do. The photos invite me to “be there” with you and your life-attitude really inspires. Thank you. Blessings.
Thanks and blessings dear Ruth XXX
If we ever visit the U.K. again I am going to hop the channel and come and personally see Bealtaine :). Your 3 acres of bliss are currently helping us to work through our 4 acres of neglected wasteland. Cheers for the motivation and the excellent example 🙂
Blessings from across the pond. Maybe someday I’ll make it to Ireland and will be sure to visit. Meanwhile I will continue to visit your blog.

My Dear Colette,
I was so glad to hear of your decision. Open Cottage Days sound wonderful. The pictures make me wish I was there. I know lots of hard work has gone into making Bealtaine Cottage what it is today. You have so much to do and have reached so many people and given them hope and for many a new lease on life. You changed my life and got me blogging, working harder on permaculture and building up my small business, I am forever in your debt. Blessings to you and your animals friends. Carole
That is a truly great comment for me to hear right now…thanks and blessings to you, Carole XXX
I’d love to visit some time in the future. Are you going to keep a schedule or decide on the go? Love your work and dreaming of having (making) a similar place… one day.
I am going to devise a schedule and post it up on the site! Blessings and look forward to seeing you here XXX
Hi Colette, I am looking forward to the 5th April and hopfully getting to visit you and the lovely Bealtaine cottage and gardens. I am so glad that you don’t live too far from me and that visiting is possible. xxx Mary
Looking forward too! XXX
