If There’s Going To Be A Future…

…it’s going to look quite different from the past…

Much of what we use in our everyday lives just happens to be by-products of the petro-chemical industry, so that will have to change as oil production has peaked.

The bulk of food grown is produced with masses of chemicals from the petro-chemical industry, so that has to change…

Much of what we wear is also predicated on the petro-chemical industry, with man-made fibres forming the bulk of our furniture and bedding too!

Our waste is no longer given back to the Earth, instead it pollutes our stream, rivers, seas and oceans…madness in it’s entirety.

June 2014 permaculture@bealtainecottage.com 026

Seed production has come to rest in the poisonous hands of multi-national corporations that pollute and deform the very essence of life!

Water is now a commodity, owned and traded by multi-national corporations…how did we ever allow that?

There was a time, in my lifetime, when one salary kept a family in comfort…now both parents have to work long hours to keep the wolf from the door!

Children used to have a childhood, playing outdoors, getting dirty, climbing trees and taking risks…our society now forbids this, keeping children Disneyfied instead and filling their minds with corporate nonsense!

Take a long, hard look at what we have created, or allowed to manifest.

Is this the future?

Well, of course it isn’t, for this civilization has peaked!

Well, isn’t that a relief!

Now, it really is time we planned the future…

We have been led into things for too long and look where it’s got us!

The future is going to be very different…you decide!

so appreciate this post by Colette looking at what we’ve manifested in the world of petrochemicals and man-made everything:

  3. i think the “need” for a two-income family is a myth that we’ve swallowed for a long time. sure, if you want every Bright-Shiny, then yes, you need the two incomes. my husband and i both have little part time jobs in addition to his own small business – we don’t make what would be considered a ‘two-income’ wage between us. we chose this so our kids would have us around and so we could live the life we envisioned — which is to say, an engaged life, devoted to living as opposed to just getting through the days.

it’s not the easiest path — the wolf is frequently on the doorstep 😉 — but there are things infinitely more important.

contrary to popular belief, we haven’t ‘sacrificed’ anything (of real importance) and gained so much more.

you are so right when you say we get to decide what the future brings.

    xo

    • What you have decided to do can inspire others caught up in the material world…thanks for sharing! Our sacred journeys on this beautiful planet are all much too short…a quality of living is important!
      Blessings X

  4. In some places in the US it is ILLEGAL to collect rainwater (Colorado) because it belongs to the local government…hard to believe..and scarey….

  5. You are so right! I love your cottage and the awesome things you have done with that land. I HOPE you can continue to live simply and humbly upon the earth. We have a family in America who started out doing what you have done. I admired them. But in recent years they have become SO commercial! Their entire website now consists mainly of advertisements for things they are selling. I know we all must make a living and you are very tasteful in the way you do it. But I believe they have actually LOST the essence of this style of living. I hope you can continue to sustain yourself as you have been doing. You are one of my only rays of hope in this crazy world!

    • Thanks and blessings to you Dawna. XXX
I try to keep to my path of ensuring that need for money has a “means to an end” built into it. I currently have a “pot” for a new roof!
      Life is about living 🙂
Blessings of abundance to you X

  6. Lovely pair of posts today Colette. You have a wonderful eye for a photo… the strangest, simplest, beautiful things … lovely.

Robert Jordan You can read the blog about my “From Field to Forest Garden” project in Donegal

    • I am so pleased I have come across your beautiful cottage. I want this life so badly, I am so inspired by this beauty. I have only a small front yard that was covered in concrete for car use. I sold my car years ago. Could no longer afford it. I am turning the driveway into a front garden. I have been planting seeds for ages. Seed bombing! I am even growing veg out there this summer.

I feel sick to my stomach lately about the ‘lifting of the veil’ We are living with ‘corporate narcissism’ the greed is sickening. I wish everyone in this world just had a chance to live like this. Consumerism is getting out of control. Our lovely unique planet. What ever is going to happen next? With all this pathology in power!

        • The poem is very true, and more people in this world need to stop and think for humanity and life on earth. Especially politicians!!

Love to see you have created mosaics. I am a mosaic artist, and I collect every thing in this world, and put into my art. Broken crockery, beads, shells, jewellery, stones, everything gets recycled and used in my home. I hate to throw away!. Now I can not bear to throw the seeds from fruits and veg away. I am collecting them. I have always felt a need to be close to nature xx
