Earthing

Vintage Chest 020

Earthing is a way of connecting with Mother Earth, going barefoot, without shoes whenever possible.

There’s just something about the feel of the ground under my feet that is magical and energizing.

The energy of the Earth was part of everyday life for our ancestors.

They walked the Ley Lines, they felt the energy of the Mother beneath their feet.

When was the last time you walked barefoot upon the Earth?

We fear the dark.

We have entrapped our bodies from making progress on our spiritual journeys, for without our connection to Mother Earth we are wandering souls, alone and bereft of comfort and joy.

Walking barefoot invokes a calming energy and helps us to get to know who we are.

When I feel in any way distressed, I walk to a special place in the gardens, remove my shoes and stand, stretched out on the Earth.

  1. The highest good is like water.
Water give life to the ten thousand things
    and does not strive.
It flows in places men reject and so is like the Tao.

In dwelling, be close to the land.
In meditation, go deep in the heart.
In dealing with others, be gentle and kind.
    In speech, be true.
    In ruling, be just.
    In daily life, be competent.
In action, be aware of the time and the season. No fight: No blame.

    Tao Te Ching, Verse 8

  2. I am so connected! I wear shoes (clogs) only when necessary and they come off the moment I come in the door, even in the winter. I pad around the house in my stocking feet. Mind you, my house is not warm…but I hate wearing shoes. Barefoot as much as possible…love the dirt between my toes. I guess that comes from growing up on a farm. Sure is a lot cheaper then wearing out shoes! luv bj

  3. Collette – I spend part of every spring, summer and fall laying on the lawn, rolling around, rubbing my toes in the grass. I firmly believe this is what has kept me happy and healthy, young in spirit and free. I love the feel of warm earth on bare feet! You are a gentle avatar, I love your words, pictures and energy. Thank you!

  4. It is good to do. I have been doing it on and off for the summer and I find I feel very energised for the day – not speeding or anything, calm and relaxed but knowing that I have lots of energy. There are stacks of “scientific experiments” that prove walking barefoot is good for our health.

  5. I live by the beach in Mayo so plenty of barefoot walking here. I have begun to spend more time in bare feet lately. I love it. I love going out in the morning and walking in the grass, breathing the air and saying hello to the Sheer and Mweelrea mountains.

  6. YES! I live in desert, New Mexico USA, so the Earth under me here has a different
superficial quality but the Essence underneath….is also of your earth. I have always
gone barefoot, my entire life. Not long ago i began lying on the Earth each day. sometimes on my stomach, sometimes on my back…just lying there. The sense of Well Being from this is incredible, even if for only a few short moments.
Thank you for this Post…and well, all of them. I am still reading “back”. Such love here.
