Chevron, Unist’ot’en and Fracking

Bealtaine Cottage 004

This morning, as it rained, I wept…

Bealtaine Cottage 004

I had been watching a short video made by the Unist’ot’en people in Canada.

(I have posted a link to this below.)

I wept as I listened to the dignified language of truth, simple and eloquent.

Bealtaine Cottage 007

I wept as I listened to the words of the Chevron representative, disconnected from the beauty, abundance and joy of Mother Earth.

I gasped in disbelief as the Chevron men offered plastic bottles of water to the dignified Unist’ot’en people.

Chevron attempted to enter unceded Unist’ot’en territory with a gift of bottled water and tobacco, seeking to conduct work for their Pacific Trail Pipelines hydraulically fractured gas line.

We are now living through the greatest race to destroy Mother Earth that the human race has ever witnessed…by the few, for the few and all for money that cannot ever return her to health!

It is a rare day that witnesses my tears.

I cannot believe the Ecocide taking place in the name of economic growth.

We need to listen to the voice of Mother Earth, for she speaks through those closest to her.

Please share this video far and wide.

  1. Colette, thank you for posting this. I am a Canadian, we have a government closely aligned with the oil & gas industry, both seem to think they can do whatever they like, the arrogance is just too much, we have pipelines being proposed EVERYWHERE. And the so called ‘process’ is rigged, the National Energy Board (NEB) which is supposed to be a neutral governmental body just rubber stamps oil & gas projects unless there is a dramatic outcry from the public. Can you believe that if you want to send a letter to the NEB you need to first apply for permission? Nonetheless, civic action does work! The Line 9 pipeline from Sarnia to Montreal was supposed to go online in June but because so many ordinary people like me & local FN groups and municipalities demanded hydrostatic testing, the project is being postponed until the said testing is done. I am proud to see First Nations people across our land standing up and standing strong. Did you see the RCMP video posted on the Unist’to’en Camp page?

I have tweeted both videos out.

Just so your readers from around the world know, thousands of Canadians are opposed to these pipelines and are disgusted by the tar sands projects underway in Alberta. There really are many of us working away to build a different future for Canada, and we hope, the world.

    Many blessings,
    Alana

    • Thanks Alana for the information you’ve posted here…the more info we have the better and more empowered we will be against these monsters of destruction. I understand how much opposition there is among Canadian people and I salute those who oppose.
      Blessings XXX

  2. It is just criminal..these idiot fracking executives. The insult of giving bottled water and tobacco (?!) to these beautiful people. It is unbelievable to me. The ecocide is terrible and what will stop them.? Thank goodness the Native Americans are standing up and protecting their lands. They should have done that in 1620 when the Pilgrims arrived…but at least they have learned. We must all stand up for Mother Earth if our children and grandchildren are to have a livable planet. Thanks fr sharing this powerful video.

  3. This saddens me terribly. We too are facing this in the USA and in my state of Michigan. We are totally against fracking but the laws have been written in such a way that the ground water can be taken by anyone. See Nestles who takes the ground water and packages it for sale. We are all boycotting Nestles and other companies who are involved in GMO’s, water bottling and fracking.

  5. How sad that those men only think about profits. However thank goodness for those amazing people who love their land and will protect it. My concern is that they might find a way to win and destroy that beautiful place. X
