Midsummer and the Earth is Singing

IMG_2181

The back door of the cottage lies open.

IMG_2240Outside the birdsong carries vibrant energy over the land.

IMG_2233On this, the longest day of the year, the Earth in the northern hemisphere basks in the glow of seemingly eternal light.

IMG_2221The shades of green seem endless, a patchwork of effervescence with splashes of outrageous colour.

Ox-Eye Daisy and Feverfew compete in the borders of the Lughnasadh Garden.

IMG_2225As fast as flowers open they turn to seed and the future summers to come.

Bees are everywhere, feasting and dancing through their very own garden of abundance and delight.

IMG_2220The hard work of the winter, creating the Lughnasadh Garden, has paid such rewards as could only have been imagined.

IMG_2215Midsummer marks the year in glorious technicolour and song, as befits Mother Earth. It’s like a birthday for her!

IMG_2187I have run out of space on this land…there is little room for more…yet more grows and arrives as gifts.

IMG_2203You are welcome to take photographs and ask all the questions you may want.

  1. What a lovely, lovely garden you have built. I can only hope that the garden here at the Hermitage will be as lovely in its own way some day. I was out with a scythe in the meadow this morning, but am spending the afternoon of longest day of the year waiting for a tropical storm to decide to come in. Best wishes for the year to come, Colette.

  2. Such a beautiful time. I have just eaten my first bowl of raspberries and if it is not raining tomorrow i will harvest a bumper crop of blackcurrants we got from Bealtaine Cottage. Despite the cloud, the green is shining.

  3. I just love, love, love you voice and garden.
You have inspired me to indulge in more of my gardening passions.
Your flowers are heavenly and the cottage is absolutely gorgeous! I enjoy you videos on YouTube and i hoping to visit your cottage one day.

  4. Midsummer blessings to you all Colette. Such stunning photos I just want to step into them and sit in the shade of your beautiful garden.I would just like to mention about the other day , there are some really nasty and hurtful people out there , please don’t let them upset you too much as they are really not worth it. They must be very unhappy people. You are a wonderful Earth Angel lovely lady xxx

  5. Solstice blessings to you …………..although not as hot as Lynne in Phoenix, it’s 37°c here in Burgundy and we’re sadly in need of rain

  6. Midsummer blessings to you Colette. Such wonder and beauty in your garden. These beautiful photos are truly a refreshment for the soul. I’ve always treasured the longest day. Sadly our longest day has also become the hottest day as well .. a heat so oppressive that it robs the joy from the day. But as I complain about our 109F (42.7778C) Phoenix Arizona had to close down all flights due to 120F(48.8889C). Some of our highways are buckling and repairs are in progress. We need a cool north wind to visit us soon. Blessings to you always.
