A Place To Be Endured

Originally posted on Bealtaine Cottage, Ireland :
As a species on this Earth, we are separated from other life forms by consciousness, in that we are aware of our own existence. In being aware, we are able to make conscious choices every day, as we proceed through the maze of miracles and events that makes up our lives. “Live like a tree, giving, forgiving and free.” ― Debasish Mridha M.D. The best choices we make are those that involve, in some way or another, a generosity of spirit, for in those choices we give. I was walking the gardens this morning…really…

Miraculous Recovery

Many of you are familiar with the tragedy recently encountered by Patrick and Jessica, both subscribers to Bealtaine Cottage and Bealtaine Cottage Good Life. The surge of good wishes, prayers and healing energy that was manifested by all of you, through Bealtaine Cottage, has led to a nothing short of a miracle being experienced on the other side of the Irish Sea! Patrick rang me this morning to tell me the wonderfully uplifting news! I asked Patrick to email a little of what he spoke of to me, so I could share this wonderful news with you all. These are…

Making Elderflower Cordial…Summer in a Bottle!

Originally posted on Bealtaine Cottage, Ireland :
The Summer harvest has begun in time for the Solstice…Elderflowers are in abundance and the making of Elderflower Cordial captures the energy of the summer solstice in a bottle of sweety goodness! 30 heads of flowers, 4 lemons, boiled spring water, sugar and citric acid to preserve the cordial well into the dark days of midwinter. It’s a very simple process. First boil the one and half litres of water you will use, then stir this onto the 1 kilo of sugar and leave to cool. Then grate the lemons and slice into thick…

The Paradigm Shift

Originally posted on Bealtaine Cottage, Ireland :
Disconnection from Nature means a distancing from the Divine. Belief in government and politics has led us astray. Belief in anything other than ourselves has let us down. The very seeds of creation have been patented by corporations with the hand of governments, our governments, complicit in the evildoing. Our water has been privatised and sold to the highest bidder, then sold back to us at massive costs. Our very homes are under attack. Our governments have succumbed to the will of the elite and taxed our homes. Our homes? There is no profit…

The Rise and Rise of Famine Farms

Originally posted on Bealtaine Cottage, Ireland :
I describe monoculture  practice as creating “Famine Farms” for bees and wildlife…becoming places of slow starvation for all. I recall thinking this when first beginning to plant out the permaculture gardens here at Bealtaine Cottage. As you can see from the place as it looked then, it was bereft of food for anything! Walking around the gardens of Bealtaine during the Spring and Summer, watching bees forage in the blossom, frogs delight in the ponds and listening to the birds sing out a mighty chorus, makes me think of the dire situation these creatures…

Thrive

Seedlings are thriving in the tunnel. Spring is in full bloom and life is thriving at Bealtaine Cottage. There is a certain joy in the air that is spiralling outwards and upwards capturing the energy of all life. Primulas and Lady’s Mantle show off their form and colour, jostling for attention as the sun rises higher and higher in the clear blue skies above this little cottage. I love archways like this in the gardens, for there is something deeply spiritual and connective about the shape of them, joining one side of a path to another…connecting, as we’re all connected!…

Little Things

Originally posted on Bealtaine Cottage, Ireland :
A day of many things, but mostly of remembering and giving thanks…thanks for little things…like fresh, Spring water. Seemingly inconsequential things…like an almost filled rain tub, a place where Jack loves to drink. Things many do not see…little things. Of a beautiful card made for me by a visitor… and the wonderful, heartfelt message she wrote. Of all the little things we happen upon in our daily lives… those whose hearts we touch and all who touch our hearts. It is indeed, all the little things, which really matter!

Ascending Towards Midsummer

This is not colour enhanced, but the vivid colours between storms here in the west of Ireland! The buds are still thickening, yet the life is visible in the stems, sky and emerging green…isn’t it simply wonderful to be able to witness the Spring as it progresses, slowly, tentatively through the landscape? This is the skyline above the Arigna Mountains, with a Rainbow, flopped over the ridge of the hill! I watched this from the window, then rushed out with camera in hand to snap the moment! I feel blessed to be a part…
