Observed by Consciousness

15

Reality only exists when it is observed…

IMG_6758

These are images I photographed yesterday…what I observed here in the woodland gardens and food forest that is now Bealtaine Cottage.

IMG_6759

Reality can only be observed by consciousness.

IMG_6774

Is this why we are here?

IMG_6773Are we part of the consciousness of Mother Earth?

IMG_6771I believe we shape the beauty around us with both our physical selves and our conscious minds.

IMG_6769We often hear the statement, ‘seeing is believing.’

IMG_6768I say, believing is seeing.

IMG_6766Belief in the sentient being that is Mother Earth has formed a major part of the energy that has manifested here.

IMG_6765IMG_6764IMG_6763IMG_6762

Not so long ago, the reality of this land was a different picture.

There are links at the top of this page where you can see what was…

IMG_6761IMG_6756IMG_6757IMG_6755From the very first time I saw this place I envisioned a cottage in the woods, surrounded by the music of Nature and the beauty of life.

IMG_6753IMG_6754IMG_6752IMG_6751IMG_6750IMG_6749IMG_6748

And here it is.

Garden to Visit in Ireland…Unique…Permaculture!

5

Yesterday was a busy day for me as I worked tirelessly in the gardens, cutting, clearing and ensuring all the paths are open for visitors.

I always carry my camera with me, so here are some of the shots I took on my walk around after I’d finished my work!

It was a hard day, but, as you can see, well worth it.

I continue today and will share pics later on!

Love and Blessings XXX Colette at Bealtaine Cottage

Natural Gardening and No-Dig Growing

3

DSC00027DSC00032Ireland is the richest source of Celtic  myths and legends.

DSC00029Down through the Ages, Ireland remained remote and cut off from mainland Europe, holding onto its rich folklore and spirituality.

DSC00030DSC00031It’s peoples worshipped all aspects of the natural world in which they recognised the Divine, in much the same way as I do here at Bealtaine Cottage.

DSC00034The reason for the wealth of myth and legend that pervades Ireland, today and it’s people lies not just from its isolation from mainland Europe for much of its history.

DSC00035Ireland remained free from pressures exerted by other cultures such as the Roman Empire.

DSC00036So much so, that the great writer, John B. Keane referred to his people as having only a “thin veneer of Christianity…” in that they merged their pre-Christian practices with their newly inducted Christianity.

DSC00037 And so I offer this up as a simple explanation for the gardens at Bealtaine Cottage having evolved through a similar understanding of the natural world and the supreme forces of Nature.

DSC00038This is no ordinary Permaculture garden as you can see, but one deeply nourished and inspired by the Goddess.

DSC00039For me there is a spiritual, otherworldly, ethereal force at work and play here.

DSC00040This is the rational (for me) way of explaining the extraordinary growth and extreme revving-up of biodiversity that has happened at Bealtaine.

DSC00041All beyond my control…not that I ever wanted to control this magnificent force!

I leave that to the Planet-Wreckers!

DSC00042As I re-emerged through my journey with Mother Earth, I came to an intuitive understanding of the need to stop digging Her…to let Her be!

DSC00043So I mulch and cover Her with as much tenderness as befits the Great Mother.

DSC00044You will never see any of Her precious skin exposed.

DSC00045Her mantle remains in place.

DSC00046And so this brings me to the second part of this story…

DSC00047The wonderful success of No-Dig Gardening…

I made this video this evening so you can enjoy a walk through the gardens and see what’s growing and coming to blossom.

Happy to be appreciated!

Forest Garden in Winter

6

DSC00015

A new camera…thanks to you, who so kindly donated to this little site…and here’s to all the much improved pics to come!

DSC00016

This is what’s termed a “bridge camera,” that is one between what I had before and a professional camera.

DSC00024

It is of course a pre-loved model…very loved from the excellent condition and not costing the earth!

DSC00018

It’s so great to be able to finally capture on film what it is I see in life around Bealtaine Cottage.

DSC00019

This has given me such a great lift in the depths of Midwinter, that I could sing!

DSC00027

I hope that as more and more people see these pictures, they will feel inspired to plant trees and maybe even turn lawns into forest gardens!

DSC00022

The gardens continue to produce food even in the cold, short days of December. Here the Purple Sprouting Broccoli grows amid the freshly added seaweed.

The seaweed was left in the rain to flush out the salt for a few months first.

DSC00028

These are the colours as you can see, in a garden of trees and shrubs, brightening up the dullest day!

DSC00030

A forest garden like this only needs work in the form of harvesting, once the planting is complete.

DSC00031

Though, to be honest, I love to plant and so continue growing from seed and finding room to pursue my passion.

DSC00034

Much of what I grow from seed I have given away to the hundreds of garden visitors each year.

The colours of the cottage are better illuminated with this camera, as you can see…

DSC00035

…and all these pics were snapped this morning, on what is a very dull and grey day in terms of the light.

DSC00037

Isn’t she lovely?

I am continually followed around the gardens by little Robins, all of whom live here.

There are several breeding pairs in various parts of the smallholding and are all very territorial!

DSC00038

Looking north this morning…

DSC00044

The beautiful Elder tree is covered with equally beautiful moss.

DSC00045

This camera allows for a much wider view of the garden, picking out fine detail too.

DSC00047

I have often looked at this fern underneath the young Sycamore tree and wished I could show you as I see it…and here it is!

DSC00048

And the little brass dish that is being enveloped by the tree.

DSC00051

The eerily empty seed-heads of Lunaria…seeds dispersed, work complete and just the beauty to admire.

DSC00058

And the plump seed-heads of the May roses continuing to delight!

DSC00059

And again, thank you so very much, from the bottom of my heart…it is your kind donations that keep the website from this little cottage flowing out to the world, a small reminder of the great living beauty that is Mother Earth …bless you X
