Early Winter at the Cottage

The beauty of early winter lies its clear skies and tranquility, offering a unique blend of nature’s subtle artistry and an invigorating crispness in the air.

This season invites a sense of stillness and peaceful reflection, encouraging mindfulness and appreciation for life’s simple joys.

The night sky above the cottage is stunning in the clear air. Winter brings a unique quiet, a hushed atmosphere that allows for escape from the noise of modern life.

Looking forward to the Winter Solstice and the great turning.

This stillness can be beneficial for mental well-being, fostering a sense of calm and reducing stress.

Early winter mornings can be particularly beautiful, with golden sunlight creating a serene and magical atmosphere in snow-covered scenes.

Enjoy the shorter days and longer nights. Stay warm and cosy!

  1. As we head into heat and dry, and the chaotic energy of the end of the year festivities wrapped up in summer holidays here in the Southern Hemisphere, your cottage and land convey a beautiful sense of calm and stillness. A refuge for my mind. Beautiful šŸ’– Thank you šŸ™

  2. Beautiful frosty photographs! Here on the shores of Strangford Lough we haven’t had even a light dusting of snow but the falling temperatures, shorter days & chill winds are all signals to slow down & cosy up!

  3. Thank you Colette for these beautiful pictures. My husband RJ and I love Winter for it’s coziness and peacefulnes.

  5. Thank you for your sharing your beautiful words and images, Collette.

As we now eagerly await the warmth of our southern summer, I find peace and solitude in your words of winter. Each season is special, and I often find that I am looking forward to the next in anticipation of what it will bring.

  7. So beautiful.
Thank you for sharing, and the reminder of the importance of our winter’s journey of letting go and allowing our energy to go deep for new sustenance.
    Just like our eternal Mother.

  8. Collette, you warm my heart with your words and photos. Yes in this and all seasons, Mother Nature provides such beauty and love. Thank you.

  9. We had a dense fig here in the Pacific NW, and it is cold, got to 38 degrees early this morning and probably won’t get out of 40s for the day, but no rain or snow yet.Looks like rains are back on Sunday for an extended period. I do like to get cosy with a cup of coffee and good book which I intend to do later. Still, the snow is beautiful especially when you don’t have to go to work or work in it.šŸ’™

  10. Here in Northern Germany we had the first snow two days ago. When it had settled we could finally see the blue sky after two weeks of grey and rain. It is beautiful – same as your photos – and during the day just above 0°C. Looking forward to December to start decorating a bit with spruce and red ribbons (never before 1.12.), and of course to Winter Solstice. Wish you a lovely time!
