Renewal

Every now and then I feel the need to recharge my batteries.

This is one of those times.

IMG_8690I have, once again, over-stretched myself across social media platforms, as well as working every day in the gardens and continuing to refresh and update the interior of Bealtaine Cottage…and all my own work, unaided.

IMG_8696My main work should be focused on writing, as this is my income, but, more often than not, I allow my energies to flow in too many directions.

IMG_8698So, for the next month, I am away from social media, concentrating my efforts on this website and YouTube channel instead.

IMG_8694All the little finishing tasks that are outstanding in the cottage will, hopefully, get finished!

IMG_8681I managed to finally hand-sew the curtain for underneath the worktop in the kitchen and hang it.

IMG_8702This week has been spent working in the Lughnasadh Garden and tidying up around the upper woodland.

IMG_8700I even managed a trip into town and to the market…not often enough I think, for I do need to get out more as I am becoming too much of a recluse!

IMG_8707Of course it is hard to leave  Bealtaine Cottage at present as the colours of Autumn are simply divine!

IMG_8711Often times I feel there is a constant pull from FaceBook and Twitter, but then this is the clever way both are set up…to keep drawing one back!

IMG_8708This website is my first love and will remain so, above all other aspects of the internet, for it is where so many discovered Bealtaine Cottage and fell in love with this land as I have done.

IMG_8712It is where I found community and support. It is also a safe place to post all my photographic work, on this website which hosts thousands of images of Bealtaine Cottage and Woodland Sanctuary.

IMG_8714It is a labour of love and devotion to Mother Earth, for sometimes I am at the computer for over an hour just uploading the images to the website…I don’t have internet, just a hotspot on my phone!

IMG_8715Much of social media is so fast-flowing that images get drowned in the tide of ‘stuff!’

IMG_8716All of the images I capture on camera add up to a tiny fraction of what I want to photograph.

IMG_8727These are then sifted down to what I upload onto this website.

IMG_8732I am on a daily quest to present the beauty of Mother Earth here at Bealtaine Cottage to the world.

IMG_8717IMG_8719IMG_8720IMG_8731So, for the next twenty eight days or so, a lunar month, I shall be posting here on my website and YouTube.

Touching base can be such a relief!

The Walls are Alive, The Cottage Breathes…

7

IMG_8667Morning at Bealtaine, infused with tasks and rituals as the hands on the clock move towards midday on this last Thursday of September.

There was a full moon last night.

IMG_8666This was the true Mabon or Equinox moon, casting light through the trees that surround the cottage, illuminating the landscape, lighting the way.

IMG_8645The air remains still and warm, much the same as when I walked through the woodland gardens at twilight last night, making a video as I went.

IMG_8643The cottage is immersed in quiet contemplation as I write…yes, these walls are alive and incubate the vibrations of life within, so reflecting my mood.

No radio, no music, just the occasional brush of wings from birds flitting to and fro as they feed on the wing or in the trees that surround these thick stone walls.

There is a consciousness in all life, something my ancestors held to be true.

IMG_8577In recent years we have rediscovered that truth as Quantum Physics has advanced in understanding our relationship with our world and universe.

Noise interferes with our vibrations, often to the point of our feeling nauseous, confused, even panic-stricken.

Be still and know thyself…a saying so true!

IMG_8507Many of us seek endlessly for a meaning in life, a spiritual awakening.

A ‘Vibrational Shift’ occurs when our consciousness raises from lower to a higher vibration.

This usually happens during a spiritual awakening.

During these next few days as I close my Juice Fast, I feel the need to immerse myself in stillness.

Peace, solitude, quietness, stillness…all sadly lacking in our lives.

Making time to indulge in these is more important now than ever.

Blessings to you all

Mabon Moon

6

Much of the day has been spent in the garden, working, head down, cutting back and meditating as I chop and drop. It’s been a long day and tiredness has forced me indoors. This is the first day of a seven day Juice Fast and, as always, my energy levels are high. Working hard enables me to sleep deeply and restoratively.

IMG_8592

There is something incredibly magical about working in the garden during Autumn. It is the scents arising from the earth that trigger memories and feelings. Then the hot tea, so well earned after hours of work.

IMG_8594

There is also the light that seeps into the trees and plants during Autumn. I stood outside last night and watched the full moon shine like a bright lamp onto the trees. This was a Mabon Moon, special, magical, conjuring otherworldliness among the woods that now surround the cottage.

IMG_8590

And the colours…oh, the colours!

The Stone Circle seemed a fitting place to sit and drink my tea…there is an enchantment within…

…and without.

IMG_8569

Indoors there are some of the most magical photographs I have ever seen, framed and ready to hang on the walls. I am pondering the best way to exhibit them. This is all the work of Beth Trepper. I made a video of her work at the Clifden Arts Festival…you may have seen it on the Bealtaine Cottage YouTube channel…

Equinox Return

13

IMG_8523

I have returned home from my friends Terri and Lol in Clifden, Connemara. The Arts Festival was in full swing in the town, with a real buzz in the air! Staying with my friends whose house is outside of the town near the ocean was a calm and reviving experience. This is one of their beautiful cats in the garden.

IMG_8544Driving home through the landscape of this beautiful part of Ireland was a holiday in itself. The road from Clifden to Westport is the stuff made of legends, with mountains that rear up in front of one and water reflecting the ever-changing sky.

IMG_8539

This is Kylemore Abbey, where I stopped for tea and a welcome rest…it’s a long drive, over three hours in total!

IMG_8552

If you look closely you can see the mountains behind the tree…

Then I arrived home…

IMG_8621

Three days away makes a big difference as I walked the woodland gardens admiring the rapidly developing colours of Autumn. Today is the Equinox and midway between Lughnasadh and Samhain, so the Autumn is really colouring the land.

IMG_8614IMG_8620IMG_8616

Jack was delighted to have me home…well the feeling was mutual, as I was over-joyed to see him!

IMG_8618

Lots of work to get done now that I am feeling invigorated with new thoughts and ideas, especially here in the Lughnasadh Garden…masses of bindweed to remove as well!

IMG_8611IMG_8608IMG_8603IMG_8606

It is pure joy to be able to be outdoors at this time of year…ah…if only there were more hours in the day!

IMG_8609IMG_8599

Thanks to all of you who have ordered a calendar…I shall be posting calendars and books in the morning! Lots of calendars left…the link is at the top of the page!

My Best Ideas…

8

IMG_8466…flit into my head as I walk the woodland sanctuary, for it is here that I feel able to simply be, unaware of even myself!

IMG_8459I imagine this is the same for most people, for it is in this state of unawareness that the creative mind begins to flow evenly, unstoppable.

IMG_8465It was in walking among the trees yesterday that thoughts began to emerge about writing and where it all began for me in earnest.

IMG_8462It was of course here at Bealtaine Cottage where I found “a room of ones own,” as Virginia Woolf referred to the creative space.

IMG_8422However it’s not just about space, but time also.

Here I have more time to simply be.

IMG_8417My brother Hugh understands the importance of creative space.

Hugh lives a solitary, happy life, in a small cottage without electricity, where he writes poetry and creates from hedgerow wood and excavated Bog Oak.

IMG_8432Although Hugh had never seen any of the images unearthed by Professor Marija Gimbutas, as she carried out her archaeological work in Old Europe, he was moved by the forces around his little cottage to carve this strikingly similar Bird Goddess image into an Ash walking stick for me. IMG_8431Much of the creativity I am immersed in is governed and directed on a deeply magical level by Mother Earth too.

IMG_8427I use the word “magical,” for what I cannot rationally explain.

Return

19

IMG_8473The evening has drawn in without my noticing, a sure sign of Autumn quickening towards Samhain.

IMG_8474I have walked the woodland gardens this evening and made a video.

IMG_8471It’s so much easier to upload videos with my new laptop now that both phone and laptop are compatible.

IMG_8460I have missed the regular writing I do here on the website and was pondering on what to do in order to make the time for this?

IMG_8457This website was my very first and enduring foray into the world outside of Bealtaine Cottage.

IMG_8456I have decided to make this website a priority above FaceBook and Twitter…those who want to will find and subscribe here.

IMG_8452I may even get back to a daily journal of sorts…we shall see!

IMG_8454There are stories to be told and pictures to share…

IMG_8447

You may have noticed the change of title at the top of the website…this is because Bealtaine has evolved and is very determined to be a woodland…She was always wilful!
