One of many images relating to the Goddess culture of Ancient Ireland…

The cultural appropriation of our ancient Celtic traditions…A Podcast.

This image below has nothing to do with the ancient Celtic Festivals!

  1. I listened to your podcast on the 13th November, when you explained about the ancient Celtic festival names being, in part, embroiled into witchcraft events and how you felt that the Celtic culture and language were being abused by these more recent ā€˜cultures’. The witchcraft phenomenon is an ideology and not a culture.
What happened to those women during the witch hunting period, as you rightly pointed out, was superstitious ideas embedded in society by the patriarchal Christian church and political system, which lead to the horrific deaths of those women and is a horrid point in time in Christianities history. Which still raises its ugliness today in the persecution of some peoples in the world based on manufactured ideologies and politics.
By you highlighting the witchcraft phenomena and their use of the Gaelic language in connection to one of the oldest cultures in Europe is certainly correct and should be called out.
    Thank you Colette

  2. Do you feel that Druidry as practiced in modern times also has appropriated ancient Irish culture for its own ends?

    • I have never really given Druidry in its modern form much thought, so am unable to comment with consideration. Having said that, I consider myself a Druidress,(bandruĆ) and have lived to the title in much of my life.
Irish mythology has a number of female druids, often sharing similar prominent cultural and religious roles with their male counterparts.
I refrain from being a part of any organisation that confers titles, as most are too patriarchal for my liking.

  3. Good Wednesday morning to you as well Colette, at least it is here in Alberta in MST. I hear that you are incensed for yourself, your family and the Irish traditions and culture. On first listen through of your podcast, I felt myself agreeing with your views but not nearly as passionately as what you sound. I had to think about that. My conclusion is that is because I am of a fairly new culture. I am a third generation Canadian and my cultural blends for the main part are Scottish, Irish, Portuguese, French-Canadian and African. My family’s cultural traditions have necessarily become a loving blend of all of the forementioned plus a loving nod and gratitude to the indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. In all of this mix though, we never forget the origins of each of our cultural traditions.
On second listen through, I really heard the subtext of your podcast and that is the influence or imposed influence of pockets of Power-hungry groups that traditionally throughout the history of humans have been patriarchies, in the main. Power craves power and is so terrified of losing said power that it must crush, belittle and eradicate all those who choose to not comply. Power has no respect or tolerance for difference.
Therefore, I wholeheartedly agree that we be true to history and never demean it or belittle it by mistruths, otherwise, we have betrayed what was fought for and held by those who have gone before us.

  4. Thank you for this! While I am not Irish, all of my grandparents were born in Ireland and I try very hard to live by the seasons of the year, with nature, and hold sacred as much of their culture that I can. It is just bizarre the selective use of the festivals, mostly by people that have never planted a tree or tended a garden. Especially, here in the USA.

  5. It is not only important, but crucial we know our history and culture. I am so against anything being twisted or taken out of context. Have a wonderful day.

  6. It has happened to us very ancient Original Humans here in Australia. The Archons have Inverted Original Culture and Infected Almost All our People with the Archontic Mind Virus. A few of my Mob have taken on this trash culture and do not remember who they really are and their incredibly strong bond with the Goddess Sofia, we Call her Mundagoori the Rainbow Sepent. We have oral history of her fall from the Pleroma and saw her body become Earth. The Archons need want to destroy us and Earth Herself as they are filled with Envy. They have certainly done this to the Original Irish Culure too.
