As a Free Celtic Woman!

Sitting here on this beautiful Saturday morning in early July. The back door is open in an attempt to dissipate the heat of the morning. Ireland has been basking in a glorious summer and occasional heat wave from late April onwards.
It has just turned 9 am and the heat of the day is beginning to rise. On days such as these, Patsy loves to just sit and watch. She follows the movements of the birds and small mammals in the garden.
The summer heat is releasing the most evocative scent from the lilies.
I imagine that Patsy is enjoying the scent too.
You may wonder why this blog follows so close on the heels of the previous one? Well, I am aware at this point in time that big corporations are endeavouring to censor what we say on the Internet and have the power to pull down Facebook pages such as mine, if I step out of line!
What would distress me if this happened? Well, it would be the fact that my photographs and words are destroyed and my ability to speak freely in a democracy taken from me. So…
I have sought sanctuary once more in this self funded website that is not governed by any corporate entity! Not that I have anything censorious to say, but I will not be yoked to any corporate plough!
You see as an Irish woman and a free Celt, denial of my rights makes me angry!
To this end, I will post more regularly on this website of mine that is free to all and free from advertising! It has always been and remains my sanctuary as an artist. Yes, I am recognised as an artist by the Irish government through my published writing.
And so my friends, on this beautiful Saturday morning, I am delighted to leave you with these images and my blessings to you for a lovely weekend ahead.

  3. Ahh to be living in a cottage surrounded by wildlife and few people by choice. It’s my dream, Colette. Bright blessings to you and Patsy

  4. Oh, Colette, at various times I have wanted to comment on your posts but have needed to go through a corporate site to do so. I see I am free here. I’ve been with you for many years, and must say, your garden is so lush and your home so rich in color as the years pass. You have given me many years of enjoyment, and the ability to make my urban yard into an oak woodland by your example. Thank you so much for all the fun, and knowledge.

  5. Your website is my favorite, a balm for the soul and inspiration for my own little corner of the world. Today, I’ve dug potatoes and picked tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, lettuce, beets and a few apples. The bees are happily dancing amongst the vegetable and flower beds and I feel such gratitude for and kinship with them. I think it’s very important to share the beauty all around us so we don’t forget gratitude and kinship. Thank you for doing that! xoxo Blessings.

  6. Blessings from New Zealand. Its always heartwarming to see what is happening in your life. Thank you for allowing me to follow along with you.

  8. thank you so much for all your inspiration you give us. The strength you show for all of us to keep going.

  9. What a glorious summer you are experiencing. It looks as if everything that fell during that terrible storm just opened space for more things to look at from different spaces. What a beautiful home you’ve created for yourself. Absolutely 💯 stunning. 🤩

  10. Thank you, Colette! As someone who got rid of Facebook in 2012, I appreciate more blog posts to see your lovely gardens and home. A couple years ago, I planted a “60 Days of Lilies” blend in the front garden beds, and they’ve been such a delight. Wishing you a beautiful weekend and boundless freedom! Blessings from Michigan, USA

  14. Greeting from West Wales and many thanks for this colourful start to the day.. Happy Saturday to you Colette & Patsy 💕

  15. Thankee, Colette. Lovely photographs. It is nice to come to a spot that is ad free and censorship free. We get used to the bombardment of ads, Ai suggestions and “you might likes”. Blessings on ye.

  16. I understand that need for freedom and am sickened by what is happening in my country. I live just a few miles from the Canadian border and when I cross over I think how blessed they are to have been born just those few miles away. My garden is my refuge.

  17. Thank you Collette. Beautiful pictures as always. I enjoy hearing from you in any format.
Have a lovely day and hello to Patsy as well.

  18. Greeting from West Wales and many thanks for this colourful start to the day.. Happy Saturday to you Colette & Patsy 💕

  19. How wonderful to look forward to more from you on this platform. Hurrah!

We’re hot here in Scotland, too. Hope the tourists don’t think this is typical… but normal services will be resumed on Monday (rain all week), so everything that can be washed and hung out is being washed and hung out while the going’s good.

Your gardens looks such an oasis. Bless you for revitalising that land.

  20. Warm blessings to you Colette from Pennsylvania, USA. Freedom is so fragile, as so many here are sadly discovering at this time. So sad.😞

  21. I always love seeing your beautiful pictures to enjoy them vicariously through your eyes. You have really created a most wonderful refuge for yourself. You are an inspiration. I’m so fascinated by the Fuschia trees. Here in the US I have only known them as annual hanging baskets.

  22. Gorgeous photos! I also want to add that you are an artist for much more than just your writing. Your entire life, your home, your gardens, your photos, everything you do brings beauty to this world. To me that is the sign of a true artist! Blessings to you and Patsy!

  23. Good morning Colette and Patsy. It’s just past 6:47 here next to Lake Erie and it’s going to be another roaster of a day. Our house sits near enough to the lake that a lovely breeze blows over to help provide much appreciated relief. It’s good to hear from you and see all your lovely photos. Sending blessings and friendship warmth your way.

  24. Patsy looks like she is soaking up the sun. My dog loves sitting in the warmth of the sun all day. Enjoy!

  25. Good morning Colette. It is 6:30 her in New Hampshire. An overcast day. We are struggling to hay between thundestorms. Bravo! You most certainly should have a voice. I celebrate your freedom on this site. I do not have a smart phone, but I just purchased a sweet little digital camera. I bought it to take photos for a water color project, but any photos I send along of our farm via email will most likely be from my kindle. So not all Yanks are overtly high tech! As always your photos are exquisite! ~ Diane

  32. 9.30 am in the city and the black road softens under the heat of the sun. The clock ticks on its armatures seem like two swords that each and every hour pass, clash in battle. Peace be amongst you we share the rii of ad ahead.
