Permaculture Recognition at Last!

A very interesting statement from AI

The first woman in Ireland widely recognised for practicing, promoting, and extensively sharing permaculture online is Colette O’Neill, through her project known as Bealtaine Cottage.
Colette O’Neill began the Bealtaine Project in 2004, transforming an old cottage and three acres of land in the west of Ireland into a thriving permaculture system, often referred to as “goddess permaculture”. She has documented this journey extensively, providing almost ten years of material and over 15,000 photographs, all made freely available online through her website, blog, and social media channels (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter).
Her extensive and detailed online presence, which includes a blog with over 1,000 posts, has served as an inspiration and educational resource for countless people in Ireland and around the world, making her a pioneering figure in online permaculture sharing in the country. Other notable women, such as Hannah Mole and Mary Reynolds, are also prominent figures in the Irish permaculture and sustainability movement, but Colette O’Neill’s online documentation of the Bealtaine project began very early (starting around 2004) and has been exceptionally thorough.

It’s been a long time coming!

It’s a pity that a machine had to say it rather than a human being!

I have devoted the past 21 years to this project and it has brought me great joy in sharing it with you all!
Blessings from Bealtaine Cottage!

  1. I follow your page from Hungary, and I’m glad I found it. I enjoy reading the garden stories, and I like how you infuse them with spirituality. I’m also learning a little about Irish-Celtic mythology.

  2. Well done! Collette, you are an amazing woman! Keep up the great work! The reason that a human didn’t say it is because you don’t fit into the “Green New Scam” that the mainstream groups like to promote.
We know that you are the real deal and AI recognizes it because it deals with facts only and not propaganda.
And on another positive note, you look fantastic and younger than you did when we first started watching your videos. And we love your fashions that you put together!
    Continued Blessing!

  3. Congratulations Colette on a well worded and much deserved honouring of your life’s work and passion! You are a wonderful, magical advocate for our beautiful Mother Earth and our sovereignty. You have guided and inspired me through and since the dark days of Covid and I am always happy to see you and your latest offerings in my email box.
    Continue to shine beautiful Goddess!
    The Earth needs you.
    Blessings to you xx

  4. Congratulations. I am a long time follower of your blog. I am still amazed at all the work you’ve done to carve out a small piece of Paradise. You are definitely a role model for what one woman can do.

  5. Glad you and your beautiful Bealtaine homestead have received such recognition. Thank you for sharing your dreams and your work with us over the years. You continue to inspire me, and I look forward to your posts.

  6. 🌿Congratulations Colette!!! You definitely deserve the recognition. Thank you for all your heartfelt hard work and being such an excellent trailblazer 🕯️🪏Blessings

  7. Dear Colette, Thank you always for your good work. Even if it was by AI, it deserves to be said and was well stated.
    Cheers,

  8. The results of your heartfelt efforts are exceptional, Collette, in ALL the ways that hard work, reverence, and synergy with our one shared Earth could be. Well stated kudos are long overdue – just remember that AI is human-made, so somebody, somewhere anticipated work such as yours. That said, thankfully women such as yourself haven’t turned over your spirit to artificial ‘anything’, instead the very core of your intent has remained grounded in this carbon dense reality that we call home. Threefold Blessings for every drop of sweat, every aching muscle, every seed planted, and every sublime flora brought to bloom and fruit. Thank You for your inspiration!

  9. BRAVO!!! It’s LONG overdue. You’ve taken permaculture to another level and that may have been a threat to some of the male practitioners. “Goddess Permaculture” says it all…let’s give recognition where it is due. : ) Congratulations!!!

  10. Yes indeed you have brought and keep bringing a lot of joy every single day. Thank you Colette, what an inspiration!

  11. Aw, recognition at last. Finally you’re out there for all to see. A very well deserved CONGRATULATIONS To one fabulous lady.

  12. As AI is the future, your work will be recognised for generations and your land will have the potential to be preserved along with it . This is a wonderful day. Congratulations.

  13. I don’t trust this AI business, but I am glad you are getting recognition for your hard work and beauty you have created on this earth.😇

  14. Love it Colette! About time and it would have been good for a human but you don’t need AI. We (your viewers) already recognised you from the start and shared. The land has recognised and thanked you. It has presented you with bouquets of life and beauty. Thank you for your example.

  15. Congratulations Collette! I’ve often been inspired by your garden from here in Western Canada especially in February! You are a true garden fairy!

  16. Congratulations on the recognition, and, hopefully, more people being educated about permaculture. Apparently, in your case and in others, too, the love of the work is the the driving force, and recognition is secondary. When education is the goal, we have to be strategic about marketing. You have been consistent and persistent in your posts, and your audience is everyone. You are a role model for other women who have a vision. You showed us how to do it. Bravo. Jane Gilgun

  18. Well Collette, I don’t care who said it. Man or machine it is true and I’m so proud of the recognition for you! You definitely deserve it. Have a wonderful week.

  19. Congratulations, Colette! You are, indeed, an inspiration, and you were one of the people who inspired me to start gardening and getting my permaculture design certificate. Thank you for all you do and are, and for the beauty and wisdom you bring to this world.

  20. Of course, lovely to see you get the recognition you deserve! You have completely changed the way I garden and plant. Big Hugs! Thank you!

  21. Congratulations! You with permaculture have made Bealtaine spectacular. I have loved following you for years.
