Morning Through The Windows of Bealtaine Cottage

The silver morning light creeps slow,
Across the sill where flowers grow.

Through glass once clouded by the night,
This old, stone cottage drinks the light.

The garden stirs in emerald deep,
As shadows from the hearth-stone leap.

A morning framed in wooden panes,
Where spring’s soft fire forever reigns.

  1. Dearest Collette, …I found your site by accident, but I believe it was by devine fate ! I too am an empath who feels deeply, cries easily and loves nature and God’s creatures…with all of my being. Thank you for sharing your magical garden.
I say, it’s a “return to Eden”. …the way this world/earth was meant to be. Natural, verdant and green.
I wish I were many years younger. At the mellow and “learn-ed age” of many years.. my one regret in life …is, that I did not follow the ‘path less taken’…the one you are on now. These days I live vicariously through your life’s journey…wishing I had been brave enough to give it a go !
…. thank you again for sharing and caring my dear. Bless you and Patsy, and all those you hold dear. kindest regards, Ann

  2. Wonderful promise of spring. Here in Canada, just before the snow came today, I saw the first brave tips of snow drops. Fierce in the face of -14C. Thanks for all your posts. Your poetry speaks the truth.

  3. Such beautiful words and such peaceful views. Thank you for sharing your talents and a view into your world. I have enjoyed two of your books so far and I love reading your posts.

Much love from snowy Alberta Canada.

  4. Just lovely! Because you share your views, often and in every season, I feel like I live st your cottage with you! Thank you for so much peace in a rough world.

  5. Thank you Collette. A very welcome change to many of the chaotic scenes are being presented with at present.

  6. So lovely Colette thank you . I’m here in New South Wales ,near a coastal lake on an acre of natural forest and a similar garden to you around my cottage. The climate here is not as gentle & kind as yours in Ireland. However, I endeavour to persevere with all the lovely cottage garden plants of my ancestors. They came from Glin , county Limerick. Thank you for all your hard work , words & inspiration given so generously . It truly makes a difference when you are living alone & trying to do it in an ethical way. Shaz McLean

  7. Beautiful heart-lifting photos of your lovely garden spots framed by your inviting windowsill vignettes. A lovely post early in the day in a snowbound landscape here in Ontario.

  8. Hi Collette, Love pics n poetry. I opened my porch door to see tracks from the steps down the driveway. A quiet visitor before I shoveled two inches of snow off the driveway. I started parsley seeds and thinking what’s next.

  9. What a lovely thing for me to wake up to this morning! Absolutely delightful poem and pictures of your paradise! Thank you Colette! ❤️🌳🍀🪴

  10. Beautiful, Colette! You’ve inspired me to walk the windows, and see what they tell me today. What a lovely ritual. I do ‘walk the windows’ light’ in my daily work here. I work in the kitchen in the mornings with the eastern light, and create in my sewing room in the afternoon light. I write in my journal as the sun rises, and gaze at the sunsets from the upstairs western windows. In this old house, the windows on all sides are blessings as I must have the light.

  11. I absolutely love the views out your windows. I’m inspired to do the same at my house, although it’s still cold and gray out there.

  12. Thank you for sharing your green. the view out my window is white. White snow on the ground and the sky is white with a hopeful tinge of blue with a helicopter is headed to the nearby hospital. Praying to the Goddesses for the future passenger.
