Deep inside, we still have a longing to be reconnected with the nature that shaped our imagination, our language, our song and dance, our sense of the divine.

As an integral part of the global awakening that is happening, humankind are being called back to the earth, to reconnect with Gaia.
Not everyone is feeling this at the same time…as each one of us on our own sacred journey comes to experience in own time.
This morning, awakening around six thirty, I ventured out into the gardens to experience the early morning mist, which, as I type at almost 11am, prevails.
Ireland has been experiencing some incredibly good weather in recent weeks and so it goes on.
In other parts of the world, devastating storms have wreaked havoc!
Yet, in all of this uncertainty and upset, the advance of those seeking to connect with Mother Earth increases.
We are like lost children in need of the comfort of a parent.
And perhaps this is a good thing, for to be like children on this Sacred Earth will connect us much easier than any other way.
So what is it about children that gives them the advantage in understanding their place in the Universe?
Could it be that they are naturally curious?
Is it our loss that we accept so much and question so little?
Have we allowed our lives to become subsumed in the detritus of the material world?
I often pass gardens where all is so perfectly straight and neat that I actively squint in attempting to see Mother Nature…and often I do not see Her at all!
Yet I know that control of Nature brings unhappiness and discontent…the sort of feeling where frustration begins to eat at one’s very soul!
So what are the tools we need to enable us to reconnect with Mother Earth.
I have the privilege to be able to observe small children when they visit Bealtaine with their parents and it is nothing less than a joy to behold!
They hold the keys to the kingdom!
What a joy it is to feel the soft, springy earth under my feet once more,
to follow grassy roads that lead to ferny brooks
where I can bathe my fingers in a cataract of rippling notes,
or to clamber over a stone wall into green fields that
tumble and roll and climb in riotous gladness!

What a delight it was to visit your garden, thank you for sharing it.
Juneau, Alaska: The biennial native celebration of dance, song, drumming, ceremony starts here today with Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian dancers and a flotilla of carved and painted canoes on the channel. The native fashion show is sold out, but our local PBS-TV station broadcasts the celebration daily. Huge cruise ships, 4 or 5, arrive daily with thousands of tourists eager to see this mostly intact ecosystem, a last “wild” frontier. Hopefully they will learn from our native people how to respect Nature, be grateful for her bounty, and rejoice in their connection to her. I have enjoyed your posts, Colette, for weeks now, and have told friends and family about Bealtaine Cottage. Thank you for all the beauty you share with those who find you.

What beautiful photos – as usual. I agree that more people are turning to Mother Earth and are quite surprised to find themselves doing so. It is wonderful to watch them puzzling out what is happening to them. And you are right, we are each on our own Sacred Journey and will arrive in the time that is right for us; consequently there is no need for any of us to worry because one day, and hopefully not too far away, one day it will be once more normal and natural to connect with Mother EArth and revel in her abundance and beauty.
Your posts bring a delight to my day like nothing else. I agree with every word and try so hard to apply this to my everyday life but it’s hard, so hard. There are so many truly upsetting things going on in this country and this world that it often beats me down into the ground. But once on that ground, that Earth, things can be seen from a different perspective. The joining with Mother Earth is like a blossoming of joy and optimism such that it seems that maybe we can avoid the wasteland and restore our interconnectedness. I am dedicated to advocating for Mother Earth, for this is needed to spread the good news. I have never taken a photography course or been trained. Some of the followers of Bealtaine Cottage bought me the camera I have now. It’s not a professional camera. I snap the pics and let Mother Earth shine through…and She does. Blessings X Colette

Such beautiful and meaningful words Colette, thank you. I don’t know why we would want to work against Mother Earth as nobody does it more beautiful than her, we just help put it together. If you listened carefully she will tell you where to put things. When I first started gardening many years ago my garden was very regimental but I knew that was not right, so I listened to her and started again and now my little paradise is lovely, if plants seed themselves that’s where they stay, because that’s is where Mother Earth decided she would like them xxx

Your comment about our controlling (trying to control) Nature goes to the heart of the challenge of reaching our full potential as a species, I think. To the extent that we feel the need to control Nature rather than working alongside and as part of Her, we also feel the need to control the others whom our lives touch, to control their choices or, if we cannot control them, to silently judge them. It is the same challenge as helping a child to grow, how to let them unfold as fully as they can while also being sensitive to all around them. It is our uniquely human gift, one that calls to be rebirthed each day. What Nature teaches us is persistance and the newness waiting to be discovered each day, new ways of thinking, perceiving, being…
