Samhain

The Thinning Veil

The frost-lit grass begins to fade,

The harvest home, the tables laid.

The wheel has turned, the summer dies,

As twilight steals across the skies.

The veil grows thin between the worlds,

As autumn smoke in silence curls.

The ancient ones are drawing near,

To walk beside us, fond and dear.

We light the hearth, we pour the wine, 🍷

And claim this sacred, liminal time.

For what is lost shall bloom again,

Blessed be this dark Samhain.

  1. Perfectly portrayed the spirit of Samhain Colette. The imagery so vivid, that i can picture your land as it changes with this season.

The season is reversed here, and my corner of the world is bursting with energy that I can’t keep up…

Autumn.. in particular Samhain, hold a deep connection and meaning for me.. probably because I too am a 29th October child.. There’s definitely something to be said if you enter the world while the veil is thin. We’re consumed by the mystical and magical nature of our world.

Thank you for your beautiful writing Colette.

    Samhain Blessings to you too

  7. Beautiful pictures, bless you and your little dog!

Still missing Jack while looking at the pictures, he was such an icon!

  8. Oh humans of such holy being why do you stop seeing all these wonders at your feet planted by their very own seeds, no plans, no order, no man made thoughts, simply growing where they aught.

  9. You have a beautiful soul. Anyone who loves nature as you do is so special to the earth ‘s survival.

  10. What a beautiful poem and lovely pictures! If you were to ever write a book or booklet about Samhain, I would buy it. <3

  11. Dear Collette,

Thank you for those beautiful photos and prose! We’ve had the pleasure of visiting Ireland once. The spirituality can be felt at the moment one looks down from the plane as it is descending. Such a magnificent island… We will never forget it. You remind us of that trip many times in your vlogs, photos, wisdom and rants. I don’t feel they are rants, just telling it like it is. You are always spot on, anyway! You are not alone, Collette. Many feel the same way. Getting out into nature always takes care of the anxieties that we face today. Just like a good cup of tea. Take care!

    Blessings always,

    Susan and Sergio Casamento
