In my small attempts to stand up to the Ecocidal Monsters of this world, I often feel like David (of Goliath fame), and then I am reminded of the massive opposition to Government and Corporate plans to control our planet and all the life therein!
Amazing people like Elena from Greece, who posted seeds to me last year…one of many subscribers to Bealtaine Cottage who is doing incredible work in protecting our Seed Sovereignty, without which we have NO future at all! Elena has written to me to inform us all about what is happening in two days time!
Elena writes:I am writing now to tell you that on January 20th there will be a big demonstration outside the European Parliament in Brussels about the forthcoming seed laws (maybe you already know this, of course). Activists from all over Europe are coming to Brussels to be there, and events are being organised around Europe on that day. I will be coordinating the Athens events – a demonstration outside parliament, all urban farms open and giving away seeds/seedlings/information packs, hopefully some media coverage, as well as Greek blogs posting something relevant to seeds on that day (a movie, a small piece of text, etc)…
I thought that maybe you could also write something specifically for seed freedom on that day, as well – although I know that you have written so much already!
have a very happy new year
with blessings from Athens

Our struggle to keep our Seed Sovereignty is ongoing, despite the small successes we have had in various government buildings.
The problem is there is so much wealth tied up with seeds, food and food production, the Corporations are seeking total control!
Understand that this struggle is an ongoing battle to keep the seed!
I have harvested seed, like this Leek seed, here at Bealtaine Cottage for almost ten years.
I allow all the plants to seed themselves and I harvest seed every year…No government will stop me!
No law will prevent me posting this seed to all the world.
This is the year for you to take your future into your own hands and save seed, share seed, gift seed and talk about the seed…it is your future, it is my future.
Without it we are slaves to tyranny!
There is a wide selection of seeds available here at Bealtaine Cottage.

I used to think there was little hope for the lovely Earth we live on…that people did not care and governments would take us all to Hell…on Earth!
That was in the past.
For several years, since the beginning of this blog, I have had the opportunity to meet thousands of people on-line.
Hundreds have made their way here to Bealtaine Cottage to meet in person, share some food and drink and, converse.
If these walls could talk, there would be an endless stream of uplifting words and energy, that would be capable of drowning out the drivel of political leaders, all of whom have let us down and worked furiously to steer our home, Earth, towards damnation!
The movement to save and protect our environment is growing with such intensity, that many governments are rushing to instigate laws to try to stop us.
The EU Seed Law, as I shall call it, is just one example…and oh, how the people have risen against it, and, the ecocidal maniacs behind it!
This is the year to save seed, share seed, nurture seed, plant seed, scatter seed, put seed inside Christmas and Birthday cards…for it is the great gift of the Divine and cannot be taken from us through unjust laws, or greedy corporations!
The EU will continue on their Agenda 21 to control Nature.
Monsanto continues to hang around the back door, pimping it’s obscene ware to those who use the back door in Brussels.
The back door is the place for them, for they know the might of the people and now they also know our resolute determination to ensure they shall not pass!
As the weekend draws in, the clock tells me it’s time to make dinner and settle in for the evening…it’s Friday evening!
The day has been wet and grey and much of my work has taken place in and around the cottage.
Days like today are welcome though, as it allows a little bit of a slow-down and a time for reflection and making plans.
I have decided to tile the kitchen floor, using broken tiles from the local tile shop, Carrick Tiles.
It is a long task, but the best approach is to a little each day and try not to work too long, as this can inhibit the desire to return to the task the following day!
Missy has kept warm beside the stove.
This is the longest period of time without a visit to the vet.
It appears that keeping really warm by the stove eases her symptoms.
Doesn’t she look well?
Some friends visited last weekend and Nick brought me this lovely mirror he made using driftwood.
There is something so beautiful about driftwood.
Even the scent of this wood evokes the ocean.
It is magical to live this close to the Atlantic Ocean…about a 45 minute drive to Rosses Point.
I’m happy to tell you all that the “We Will Not Comply” petition now has over 4,200 signatures…not bad for a mere 8 days.
If you would like to add your name then here’s the link…
There is a new regulation in the making as I type that will ban, yes, BAN, all old and rare varieties of seeds.
Not only ban these seeds of biodiversity and extreme importance to the health of the land and Nature, but will, in effect, threaten the exchange of seeds as I have been doing over recent months.
This ban will also prevent seeds of diversity from being sold!
So, the EU wants us all to bow down before Monsanto?
Well, I for one, will not!
The EU should be banning this monster called Monsanto and all the seeds of death it produces, not our seed heritage, nurtured and passed onto us by our grandparents!
“Monsanto’s GMO seed is neither ecological nor economic or socially sustainable. It is eco–cide and genocide.” ~ Dr Vandana Shiva
“The courage to say no to unjust law…the law that says a farmer cannot save seed!” ~ Dr Vandana Shiva
There was another great Indian leader called Gandhi and what he had to say resonates very much with me today…and I shall heed his advice!
As Gandhi taught us, the most important assets we have are self governance, self sustaining agriculture and ability to speak truth to power!
I will not comply!
Will you?
I have also uploaded a video about this…
