The Best Say Nothing!

Today’s Podcast covers a miscellany of issues, including that which cannot be spoken on social media platforms. However, I own this website and, a Celtic woman, am free to speak my mind and talk about some of the issues which affect so many of us!

The Second Coming

by William Butler Yeats

Turning and turning in the widening gyre

The falcon cannot hear the falconer;

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere

The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction, while the worst

Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;

Surely the Second Coming is at hand.

The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out

When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi

Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert

A shape with lion body and the head of a man,

A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,

Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it

Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.

The darkness drops again; but now I know

That twenty centuries of stony sleep

Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,

Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

  1. Beautiful reading of Yeats, Collette! I’d loved to hear you read more poetry in you podcasts! I could hear you read the words of another Celt, Dylan Thomas! Thank you for the reminder of Yeats’ relevance today!

  2. A much needed, well versed original script!!! Thank you so very much Colette for sharing another wonderful podcast!!!❤️ Thank you for adding to my peace of mind.🙏 Blessings to you and this bright community!!

  3. Oh Wow! What a delightful visit with you and Patsy, Colette! Your reading of the poem was fantastic!! WOW And about the current generation…of which you spoke…so ON TARGET!! And Henrietta attending AA meetings! I laughed and laughed throughout this podcast. Thank you so much, for sharing your Light with us, Colette. Many, many blessings! (Patsy looks so sweet! all covered up)

    • Is this the start of de-platforming and cancelling? Collette is a strong woman and will withstand this crazy, dangerous nonsense. I do fear for her safety. These transactivists put a target on your back. So sad. 😔

  4. Collette as usual you have calmed me down. One thing that really spoke to me was that your children are on their own journey. It’s been very hard for to accept that fact and feel such a sense of loneliness as they live their own journey. It’s for me not to want to fix everything in their lives. I thank you for that. You never know what you give from these podcasts, I’m sure this was the last thing someone would get out of it. Thank you

  5. I love the rooster story and the poem and the whole podcast. Patsy is so cute in her little bed. The two of you are blessed. Peace on Earth. XO

  6. Thanks, Collette. This is the second podcast I listen to (I’m new), and I really enjoy them. What you said today, and also the great poem, makes me feel more connected to the people who lived back then, but also makes me realize that nothing much has changed. It’s just more “in our faces” now, and everywhere. In my area, some people are fed up and finally speaking up, but we do need more of them. Sweet blessings to you & Patsy

  7. Great readings. I remember those school debates.
    Also the narrow escape my family had with tragedy and illness and survival depended on the steely grandmas.Thankyou for all you do
    Blessings from Achill.

  8. WOW! The way you narrated the poem was powerful. Sent shivers up my spine because he wrote such truths, and you read them out so expressively.(That is a gift.) Hilarious anecdote about Henrietta and the whisky. Basically your opinions on all and sundry match my own. Especially the misuse of language these days, and the appropriation of words used so incorrectly that all real meaning is lost…re fascist, and oh so many more! Thankyou Collette. You’re a breath of fresh air. High regards Carole Anne.

  9. I really enjoyed your thoughts today. You could cover 20 topics in 10 minutes and I find that quite alright. And I truly love that poem. Lots to ponder, you know? Bright blessings to you and Patsy ♥️

  10. So true Colette and wise! What to do? I worry for us all, my grown up children and their children!

    I tried so hard to convey my fears which fell on deaf ears! This is a psyop but some of us can see through the veil!

    Blessings,

    Miranda x
