Left behind…

Solstice leftovers in the form of beloved toys belonging to grandchildren, in this case my youngest granddaughter.

The little door kept little ones safe from the chaos of an untidy barn filled with tools and things!
It’s always sad when visitors go home!
However, Patsy and I enjoy our time together simply walking in the woodland around the cottage. There is a different kind of light now illuminating the trees as we come to the other side of solstice. In many ways there is a feel of approaching Lughnasadh.
The lower woodland where the bog used to be! I have planted many Irish oak trees in this area and they all seem to love it!
As I planted young oak saplings, I clear and cut back hard the Dogwood!

You never quite know what you do in life that leaves a seed behind that grows into an oak tree. When the oak is felled the whole forest echoes with it fall, but a hundred acorns are sown in silence by an unnoticed breeze. Today’s mighty oak is just yesterday’s nut, that held its ground.

Blessings to you all and please subscribe for updates which I will be posting on a more regular basis for you.

  2. You have become such an inspiration to me. I’m blessed to own 34 acres of farmland in Pennsylvania, USA and I am now “rewilding” large portions of land that has been overworked and degraded by industrial farming practices.

You are a bright light in dark times. Thank you Deirdre

  3. I have loved your writing and photos for some time, Colette. Thank you!

I too am transforming 3 acres into goddess permaculture in Wisconsin USA called Bridget Center! I will be traveling to Ireland this month and hope to visit you and Jack and interview you if you are willing and able, in a few weeks. I will contact you as I arrive in Ireland. Thank you kindly!

  14. Dear Colette:

Your photos provide a feeling of peace and beauty. Seeing Patsy cozy and resting on the bed and then looking over at my dog, Alfie, resting on his bed gives me such a feeling of calmness. There is no need to rush anywhere today. Blessings to you and Patsy.

  15. So wonderful to have company, especially Grandchildren! SO happy when they come and
    very peaceful when they go!

    • Exactly. When asked if she missed the visiting grandchildren when they left my Mother said, “Well….. yes, but it’s a glad lonesome.” I think that pretty much sums up the atmosphere after visitors, it’s good to get back into a normal, everyday rhythm after their departure.

  16. Dear Colette….I Wish you a Happy Summer solstice…… Blessings and greetings from Daggy Kiel Germany ☘️☘️☘️
