Heart Awakening…

“Once the soul awakens, the search begins and you can never go back. From then on, you are inflamed with a special longing that will never again let you linger in the lowlands of complacency and partial fulfillment. The eternal makes you urgent. You are loath to let compromise or the threat of danger hold you back from striving toward the summit of fulfillment.” ― John O’Donohue from: A Little Book of Celtic Wisdom Heart Awakening Podcast (audio) We approach the Equinox and the promise of longer days and shorter nights…the dark days are over. The Walls are Alive, The Cottage Breathes…

Morning at Bealtaine, infused with tasks and rituals as the hands on the clock move towards midday on this last Thursday of September. There was a full moon last night. This was the true Mabon or Equinox moon, casting light through the trees that surround the cottage, illuminating the landscape, lighting the way. The air remains still and warm, much the same as when I walked through the woodland gardens at twilight last night, making a video as I went. The cottage is immersed in quiet contemplation as I write…yes, these walls are alive and incubate the vibrations of life…

Old Year’s Night…Celtic Samhain

Between two worlds, that of Summer and of Winter, rests Samhain.  Samhain, (pronounced “Sow-when”) is the most important time in the Ancient Irish (and Celtic) Calendar. The time of Samhain starts at dusk, when the light and dark are in balance. This was never regarded as a time of death, but a time of incubation for Mother Earth. It was the onset of Winter that allowed the Great Mother to get ready the seed for Spring. Samhain is the Celtic New Year’s Eve. It is at this time, between worlds, that the veil is thin. A time of possibilities. A…

Goddess Harmony

“The symbol of Goddess gives us permission. She teaches us to embrace the holiness of every natural, ordinary, sensual dying moment. Patriarchy may try to negate body and flee earth with its constant heartbeat of death, but Goddess forces us back to embrace them, to take our human life in our arms and clasp it for the divine life it is – the nice, sanitary, harmonious moment as well as the painful, dark, splintered ones. If such a consciousness truly is set loose in the world, nothing will be the same. It will free us to be in a sacred…

Unseen

“I don’t just use yarn from a store. I buy old sweaters from consignment shops. The older the better, and unravel them. There are countries of women in this scarf/shawl/blanket. Soon it will be big enough to keep me warm. ” ― Laurie Halse Anderson, Wintergirls I love that quote. Her words sum up for me the magic in up-cycling…materials already infused with the energy from other lives.  Energy is vital to our lives, not just what keeps us warm and dry, but what inspires us. many of us feel the energy of the full moon such as happened last…

Earth Consciousness…A Portal to the Divine

Harvesting is under way. This year more than ever sees an immense increase in the offerings from Mother Earth. Blackcurrants are taking up much of my time over recent weeks. Bag after bag is sealed and placed in the freezer to await further instructions!  Several hundred pounds of Blackcurrants from what was only two original bushes, but now number several dozen…easy to grow and multiply from cuttings stuck straight into the earth! Trees have put out a huge amount of wood which will be coppiced later in the year. This beautiful, forgiving form of energy that aids the environment as…

As We Awaken…

The weekend lies ahead. My Connemara visitors have left…sad to wave off such great folks! Missy and Che are both fed and pampered. The Tea cups are washed and stacked on the draining board and the last of the muffins packed away into the freezer…for if not I would surely eat them…well, I may share them with Jack and Flo! Missy appears to be more tolerant of Che, for today at least…he may be taking his life in his hands by getting this close tomorrow! We talked and talked about such interesting things…it’s a pleasure to share time with like-minded…

The Mayan Calendar, 2012 and the Shift in Consciousness.

Missy contemplates the day. Hyacinths emerge from their winter slumber into the delicate light of a very early Spring morning. This year, on December 21, 2012, the Mayan Calendar’s 13th Baktun cycle will end. Many prophecies for this date state that the world as we know it will also change. According to one interpretation of the Mayan Calendar, December 21, 2012 is the beginning of a new era…a time when humanity will evolve to a greater understanding of our place in the universe. The Mayan Calendar, hanging on the wall of the veranda at the back of Bealtaine Cottage. “An…
