As War Looms…keeping Faith with Mother Earth!

permaculture gardens at bealtainecottage.com 008Such news as makes me angry…so off into the gardens to get working and channel my energy as best I can!

And as if Mother Earth

heard my despair, she has worked tirelessly overnight making the compost heap look beautiful…I laugh out loud in joy!

This morning as I spread compost and seaweed on the vegetable beds, before mulching down with cardboard and straw, I ponder on putting the exposed earth to bed for the winter…this makes me feel as though I am nurturing the great Mother.

It is all I can do to help assuage the horrors of what Man does to her!

The big tidy-up is important, before the wind and rain sets in…and what a lot of tidying to be done!

Just in case you thought anything about where the compost toilet is emptied…in these neat bins, holes drilled into the bottom of each, no smell, no flies and thoroughly sustainable on site!

As the seaweed dries out, all these lovely shades of autumn emerge…

Let peace rise up as the Michelmas daisies around Buddha…my mantra for today.

Katharine Gun and Tony Blair…a Tale of Two Englands

April 2011 Bealtaine 028Ten years ago Tony Blair stood up in the Mother of all Parliaments and told a yarn  about Iraq.

April 2011 permaculturecottage 047It was a story about weapons of mass destruction and the need for people, other than himself, to take to the gun and the tank, the bomber jet and the bomb and go invade another country.

One that had not threatened the security of the state.

One that would pay a terrible price for the fact it had a wealth of oil.

April Bealtaine Cottage 2011 013Meanwhile, Katharine Gun was a young woman working at GCHQ, specializing in speaking Mandarin.

April 2011 Bealtaine Cottage 027Katharine became aware, through her work at GCHQ, that there was an official drive for the invasion of Iraq, that included spying on the UN and working to ensure a UN mandate for a war based on lies.

April 2011 Bealtaine Smallholding 004To her everlasting credit, Katharine decided to go public with the information, in a bid to stop what was to become one of the most horrific slaughters of human beings not recorded! (It was decided in both London and Washington that a body count of civilian death was not needed!)

“On a per-day basis, the highest intensity of civilian killings over a sustained period occurred during the first three “Shock and Awe” weeks of the 2003 invasion, when civilian deaths averaged 317 per day and totalled over 6,640 by April 9th, nearly all attributable to US-led coalition-forces, reaching 7,286 by the time of President GW Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” speech of 1st May 2003″ ~The Guardian

May 2011 Bealtaine 007

Katharine Gun lost her job.

Tony Blair went on to become one of Britain’s wealthiest ex-prime ministers.

The Paradigm Shift

Candle at Bealtaine Cottage Disconnection from Nature means a distancing from the Divine.

Belief in government and politics has led us astray.

Belief in anything other than ourselves has let us down.

Harvest at Bealtaine CottageThe very seeds of creation have been patented by corporations with the hand of governments, our governments, complicit in the evildoing.

Upcycled water taps at Bealtaine CottageOur water has been privatised and sold to the highest bidder, then sold back to us at massive costs.

Our very homes are under attack.

Stanley stove at Bealtaine CottageOur governments have succumbed to the will of the elite and taxed our homes.

Our homes?

There is no profit to be made in the place one retreats to for food and shelter…is there?

Washing at bealtaine CottageAs all this happens, our governments sacrifice the health and education of the nation to spend billions on war.

Even this Irish government I live under, in this neutral country, is suckered into the militarisation of the EU.

Shabby chic at Bealtaine CottageMoney that should be spent at home on alleviating poverty and poor education is going into the killing machine.

No forces should be stationed in other countries and Ireland is all too well aware of that wrongdoing!

Apples at Bealtaine CottageThe yearly cost of stationing one soldier in Iraq could feed 60 families in the West.

Poverty, food banks and misery is on the rise!

dominic fracking leitrim observer sept 7 2011Total estimates of European Union defence and security spending vary between $200 and 300 billion…while children live in impoverishment!

Defence?

Are we under attack?…only from within, I suspect.

This is an abomination!

September 2011 Permaculture Cottage 016The Paradigm shift is that people are waking up to deeds of their governments and are questioning the very basis of all they once  held true.

“Not in my name.”

My home is not an asset, Mr Kenny.

You will not tax my home.

I will not comply with injustice and theft.

Taxes imposed by the IMF are nothing less than theft!

Bealtaine Cottage August 2011 permaculture Cottage 020This is not a rallying call to others, but an articulation of what many people feel is wrong with society.

The Paradigm shift is our awakening.

The line in the sand is being drawn.
