Stepping out in search of breakfast…the potager beds are full and the apple trees drip with fruit…lots of good, fresh food to juice this morning!
The morning is mild and very still…I can hear the birds move through the bushes, as they dip and swoop along the paths in the gardens.
Sammy-Bear sits atop the stone seat, watching Che-Mousy as he creeps towards him…
It’s a delight to watch young animals at play…I wonder what they’re thinking and saying to each other…
The streams around the land are beginning to flow, as the rain returns.
This summer has been very dry and the land is quite firm to walk upon.
As the vernal equinox approaches, the rhythms of Nature beat a pace to follow towards Samhain.
The last of the herbs will be harvested before the equinox.
Willow and Dogwood, grown tall, will be cut, or trimmed, according to the use.
New beds, like this one, will be completed and shredding continued to be applied throughout the months of winter, up until the new planting.
But, I digress…my journey into the gardens this morning took me in search of breakfast…I must keep going…
More distractions catch my eye…the bees continue to work on the Sunflowers nestling among the Apple-mint.
As I turn around, I see part of my breakfast, fresh to pick and juice!
Finally! Picked and ready to wash, then juice…Kale, Apples and Celery.
I know you are somewhere in Leitrim. It is such a beautiful county. I’ve been all summer trying to visit my friends there. Haven’t
got there yet. relying on public transport and having to visit my relations in other parts have keep me away. I’d love to visit you lovely little cottage.
I keep the gardens open to the public all year round. I am near the village of Keadue. Transport of some sort is essential though 🙁
Email to arrange a visit 🙂
Blessings
Colette
Che-Mousy and Sammy Bear are so cute playing happily. The apples look wonderful, the tree is so full, you meal fresh from the garden. Even though fall is approaching your garden is in its prime.
Blessings to you and yours
Autumn is such a busy time. The freezers are full. We have more jam than we can eat, and the apples are just starting. The crab apples have been made into jam using the juice and some blackcurrants. There are so many apples this year that I am going to have a go at juicing and bottling. I would rather just freeze the juice but I can’t buy a fourth freezer surely!!
Same here! I will can most of mine as the freezer is already full with blackcurrants. Abundance is the order of the day!
Beautiful. I would love to visit someday 😀 And in the future I will have a small piece of land to turn into a wonderful living farm where I can live simply off the land 🙂
You will be welcome to visit…simplicity is sheer enchantment!
